Chief Commissioner's Blog | Sharing our success

Blog 3.3.16

This week, Wayne shares an unexpected success of the A Million Hands community impact project!

Unexpected consequences!

Good word spreads quickly it seems! As a result of the enthusiasm that the Alzheimers Society have seen through their work with us on A Million Hands, they have invited us to join the National Champions Group, responsible for developing a strategy to tackle dementia and its effects across the UK.

Such is the high regard the Community Impact Group are held in and the local take up of projects, that we have been asked to provide a lead on the workstream aiming for greater youth engagement across all areas!

This is particularly exciting if we remember that young people themselves told us that dementia was something important to them and that they wished to take action on.

Great to see that they care and enthusiasm you have shown now stands to benefit young people and our communities much wider than just through Scouting.

Sharing successes

Speaking of A Million Hands, don’t forget to visit the website to tell us what issue you have chosen, and when you have completed each project and tell us what you have done so that we can share it with others as good practice and ensure your successes are shared more widely.
