New Deputy UK Commissioner for Adult SupportThe Scout Association is delighted to announce that Helen Woolsey has been appointed as Deputy UK Commissioner for Adult Support.
Helen first joined Scouts when she was 16 and helped out at Cubs. She has since held a variety of roles including section leader and manager. Her most recent roles have been Island Commissioner for Jersey, Island Training Manager and Regional Training Adviser.
One of the roles Helen enjoyed most was delivering the Young Leaders’ Training Scheme and having the chance to experience the enthusiasm the Young Leaders have for sharing their skills and knowledge. Focussing on Adult Training, Helen is currently a member of the Adult Support Core Team.
Helen said: ‘I am passionate that we should value our volunteers and managers, giving them the opportunities to receive all the training and support they need to provide excellent Scouting for young people.
‘During the next few months I am excited about getting involved with new training initiatives, especially joining the Management Training Project Group, growing the team of volunteers who champion adult training and working with training managers and adult training teams nationally.’
Kester Sharpe, UK Commissioner for Adult Support, said: ‘I'm delighted to appoint Helen as Deputy UK Commissioner for Adult Support. This recognises the significant role Helen has played in the Adult Support Core Team over the last four years; in particular the work she has done in supporting various aspects of adult training. I'm very much looking forward to continuing to work with Helen.’
