Two UK Scout Network Commissioners appointed

Reporting directly to the Deputy UK Commissioner for Programme (14-25), Izzy and Lewis, the UK Scout Network Commissioners, will be responsible for shaping, organising and promoting Scout Network projects and activities for all young adults aged 18-25 who are members of The Scout Association.
More specifically, they will help support and develop the UK Scout Network in its programmes and projects and support members to achieve awards and virtual badge.

Opportunities and adventures

Izzy Dorman has been a Scout since she was 11, and says she fell in love with Scouts as soon as she walked into her Scout Hut! She has since gone on to be a Beaver Scout and Scout leader, and is a member of Scout Network.

‘As a member of Scout Network myself I know the opportunities the section can provide, from the big awards to simply having adventures with friends,’ says Izzy.
She continues: ‘The UK Scout Network gives even more young adults like me the opportunity to join in and have exciting adventures, international experiences and the opportunity to give something back. My dream for the UK Scout Network is to get more people achieving awards and permits that will not only help develop the members themselves, but also benefit Scouting as a whole by developing skilled individuals who can give even more young people these valuable adventures.’

So much potential

Her new colleague, Lewis Dangerfield, joined Scouts aged 6 and has worked his way up through the sections to join the Scout Network. Lewis says he’s enjoyed taking part in lots of international trips, and completed his Queen’s Scout Award in 2013. Lewis was a Young Leader during his time as an Explorer Scout, and has gone on to hold a number of roles at Scouts, from Cub Scout Leader to Acting District Commissioner, since turning 18, and is currently an Explorer Leader in Gloucestershire.

Lewis said: ‘Having been involved in Network, I am really looking forward to working with Izzy and making the UK Scout Network great! There is so much potential to take what works well now and combine that with a new focus on projects to make Network the pinnacle of the youth sections in both terms of achievement and fun! I'm also hoping I can have some adventures too!’

We’re currently recruiting locally as well. We're looking for District Scout Network Commissioners and Assistant County Commissioners (Scout Network). Make sure you take a look at the job descriptions and apply!
