New courses and events at Scout Activity Centres

We've got more happening at Scout Activity Centres than ever before, for all sections as well as adult members.

Following the success of our practical skills course in 2013, we've launched practical skills courses at three different centres. These give members across the UK an opportunity to learn traditional Scouting skills such as navigation and using axes and saws.

This year there are a variety of exciting courses running at our centres. Here are just a selection:

  • DofE Leadership Residential at Downe in April
  • British Red Cross Practical First Aid at multiple centres
  • Beaver Leader Residential at Great Tower in May
  • GNAS archery instructor course at Youlbury in February
  • NSRA rifle shooting course Ferny Crofts in February and Woodhouse Park in March.

We've also got two brand new events planned for 2014. Fundays, a fantastic event for Beavers and Cubs, will be taking place in June at Woodhouse Park in Gloucestershire as well as Gilwell Park. And Scarefest, a spooktacular experience for Scouts and Explorers, comes to Gilwell Park in November.

There are open days across our centres in 2014, or contact us to arrange an informal visit. For more information, check out the Scout Activity Centres website.
