Abseiling


Description
Abseiling is a form of controlled descent from a height using a rope. This activity is usually undertaken on rock face or a man made structure.

Who is it suitable for?
For all Ages, depending on the size of equipment available. Some younger members will find this quite a scary activity and so more suitable for older Cubs up.

How to run/provide abseiling

There are 3 ways of running Abseiling in Scouting. These are:

  1. Scout-led activity - running abseiling yourself or using someone else in Scouting

  2. Externally-led activity - running abseiling using an external provider

  3. Activity for adult groups - running abseiling for a group entirely of adults
