Mountain biking


Description
Mountain biking is the activity of travelling by mountain bike away from roads on trails and terrain that can be difficult and challenging.

Who is it suitable for?
Mountain biking is a great extension activity for those who are already comfortable and confident on a bike. This makes is a Scout and older activity in the main.

We Are Cycling UK and British Cycling both provide information on local cycling groups who can help support this activity.

How to run/provide mountain biking

There are 3 ways of running Mountain biking in Scouting. These are:

  1. Scout-led activity - running mountain biking yourself or using someone else in Scouting

  2. Externally-led activity - running mountain biking using an external provider

  3. Activity for adult groups - running mountain biking for a group entirely of adults
