Coasteering

Description
Coasteering is the activity of exploring a rocky coastline by climbing, jumping, and swimming.

Who is it suitable for?
Some providers may be able to take Cubs on smaller trips but mainly Scouts/Explorers and above

Additional Information
There are various commercial providers, especially in popular areas such as Pembrokeshire, Gower, Cornwall and on the South Coast. The National Coasteering Charter website has lots of helpful material including a map to help find providers.

How to run/provide coasteering

There are 3 ways of running Coasteering in Scouting. These are:

  1. Scout-led activity - running coasteering yourself or using someone else in Scouting

  2. Externally-led activity - running coasteering using an external provider

  3. Activity for adult groups - running coasteering for a group entirely of adults
