Recruiting students

Every September thousands of young people leave their home town and go off to their chosen university. Many of them are already in scouts or guides and some are leaders and are keen to continue their scouting.

This can sometimes give them a sense of stability when everything else in their life is changing. Other students look to be involved in scouting as part of their Duke of Edinburgh's Award, for work experience or to try something completely new, making new friends and meeting like-minded people.

Once recruited, students can bring a wealth of new ideas, support, experience and contacts. They may miss a few weeks a scout term each year but they are an easy source of new leaders and helpers to tap in to.
