"Be seen, but not heard" are you kidding - Speaking Up

One of our successes over the past few years has been the increasing engagement of young people with the political parties and this year looks like being even better. The Political Party season kicks off in under a week so you need to hurry.

We will be repeating the successful 'Scouts Speak Up' sessions at this year's political party conferences. These events are a deliberative forum where four questions will be discussed in an interactive and informal format by young people in Scouting and MPs, Councillors and prospective parliamentary candidates.

These events are a great opportunity for young people involved in Scouting to have their say on the issues that matter to them and talk directly with those who seek to represent them. The events are as follows:

  • Liberal Democrat Conference Sunday 20 September The Clifton Suite, The Hermitage Hotel, Exeter Road, Bournemouth 12pm - 2pm
  • Labour Conference Sunday 27 September The Lisbon Suite, The New Madeira Hotel, 19 -23 Marine Parade, Brighton 12pm - 2pm
  • Conservative Party Conference Monday 5 October Mechanics Institute, 103 Princess Street, Manchester 6pm-8pm

If you would like to come you can register to participate by emailing citizen@scout.org.uk with the conference you wish to attend and your postcode.

You can vote to decide the four topics that will be discussed at these events.

You can also help by encouraging your MP to attend by filling out our quick online form.

We demonstrated with the Rain Tax lobby just how powerful we can be when we pull together, so why not visit http://www.scout.org.uk/speakup and get involved?
