About our Print Centre

The Print Centre is a service available to adult members of Scouting to create branded, personalised resources. To access, please log into www.scouts.org.uk and select the icon from the My Tools menu.

How many times have you found yourself staring at blank page on your computer when creating promotional materials for a Scout event? Whether it’s for an activities day, a quiz night, or an AGM, creating something from scratch can be a real chore. Despite the fact that the requirements are almost identical from Group to Group, volunteers are constantly re-inventing the wheel when it comes to local communications.

The personal touch

That’s why we’re created this new print centre allowing you to create your own personalised resources, adding local information, timing and contact details. There is no charge for you to create the materials and print them as PDFs on your home printer. If multiple copies are required, the system is linked to a trusted print supplier, N2 Visual Communications Ltd, who can process your order at a highly competitive rate. The benefits are significant:

  • The templates are quick and easy to use – you can create a professional looking poster including your local details in three minutes.
  • You are freed up to get on with the real business of Scouting.
  • All images and fonts will be in place already – there’s no need to spend money on expensive software or equipment.
  • Your local resources will have the same look and feel as national resources
  • Communications can be personalised making them more powerful and effective

What’s available?

A library of resources has been created for you to explore and adapt. This includes:

  • posters
  • flyers
  • stationery (letterhead, business cards, compliment slips)
  • invites and tickets
  • signage for your meeting place
  • banners

We will add to the templates over time and you can also make suggestions for new resources. Obviously the potential is great, and if you can’t see what you want, please be patient while we gradually build-up the library.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is it?
The facility allows you as an adult member of The Scout Association to create your own posters, flyers and other resources, adding local information, timing and contact details. There is no charge for you to create the materials and print them as PDFs on your home printer. If multiple copies are required, the system is linked to a trusted print supplier who can process your order at a highly competitive rate.

Where is it?
The system can be accessed by clicking the Print Centre icon in the My Tools menu after you have logged in.

Why has this area been created?
Across our Groups, Counties and Districts there is currently a huge variety of materials being produced every month. Each time a new poster, newsletter, flyer or website is required, a volunteer has to start from scratch. As a consequence, there is no single recognisable look for Scouting, inconsistent use of logos and messages, and local Scouting money and time is being invested in design and print, equipment, fonts and training.

The new system allows us to be much more consistent with the way we present Scouting to potential supporters. If Scouting promotes the same positive messages about fun, challenge and adventure locally and nationally, more people will recognise and support Scouting.

Who is it for?
It can be used by any adult in Scouting, from a Beaver Scout Leader organising a fundraising event to a County Commissioner organising an AGM.

What templates are available?
A library of resources has been created for you to adapt and use. This includes:

  • posters
  • flyers
  • stationery (letterhead, business cards, compliment slips)
  • invites and tickets
  • signage for your meeting place
  • banners

What are the benefits?

  • You do not need to ‘start from scratch’ when creating communications
  • Your local resources will have the same look and feel as national resources
  • The templates can be personalised making them more powerful and effective
  • High quality, on brand materials can be created in a matter of minutes rather than hours or days.
  • All images and fonts are in place already – there’s no need to spend money on expensive software or equipment.

How much does it cost?
There is no charge to create the materials and you can print them as PDFs on your home printer. If multiple, high quality copies are required, the system is linked to a trusted print supplier, N2 Visual Communications Ltd. It can process your order at a highly competitive rate. For banners and large posters, it is recommended that the professional printer is used, due to size and quality of materials required.

The cost of your order and cost of postage and packing will be displayed on screen as part of the system. You will be given an opportunity to fully review the price, product and terms and conditions before placing your order.

How do I pay?
Payment is by credit card or for larger orders (such as County orders) there will be an opportunity to set up an account with N2 Visual Communications Ltd if preferred.

How was this developed?
Volunteers and Association staff developed the system in response to enquiries from the membership.  Workshops were run and volunteers at all levels in Scouting to test the system. Comments and feedback were positive and constructive and contributed to the development of the site and products. Volunteers with special responsibility for communications in a number of Counties have also given detailed feedback.

Do other charities have similar systems?
Yes. Many charities including Red Cross, MacMillan and others provide tools and resources online that can be adapted and used locally.

Are section branded templates available?
Yes, there are templates available for all sections. Please follow the on screen instructions in the print centre.

I can’t find what I’m looking for, what do I do?
We haven’t been able to meet every Scouting need, however many of the templates can be adapted for general purposes. For example ‘Get Stuck In’ could be used as a recruitment poster or an activities day.

We will add to the templates over time and there’s also a place where you can make suggestions for new resources. Obviously the potential is great, and if you can’t see what you want, please be patient while we gradually build-up the library.

How long will it take for my resources to be delivered?
Delivery details will be shown on screen when completing your order, but generally five working days.

I want to find out where my order is?
A tracking system is available within the template system.

Is this a money making exercise for The Scout Association?
No – the Association is not making any money out of this. It is purely a service for local Scouting. If you decide to place an order for materials, the transaction is between you and the printer (N2 Visual Communications Ltd.)

Is the site secure?
Yes – the sign in is linked to sign in to the members area to ensure the system can only be used by Members of Scouting.

How do I use it?
Log into www.scouts.org.uk using your username and password. Then select Print Centre from the My Tools menu. Follow the instructions on screen.
