News | Jack Maxton appointed International Commissioner
We are delighted to announce that Jack Maxton has been appointed as International Commissioner with immediate effect. Jack
has held a wide range of roles in Scouting, having been a Deputy County
Commissioner, District Explorer Scout Commissioner and Assistant Scout
Leader as well as a member of the UK Contingent Management Team for the
23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan. He has also been Assistant Unit
Leader at the Sweden Jamboree and member of the onsite Programme Team in
2007.
Most recently, he led the UK Contingent’s Marketing and
Communications team in Japan this summer. This included supporting Unit
Leaders and young people in sharing their jamboree experience as well as
gaining media coverage across the UK. As part of this role, Jack
developed the join-in-Jamboree pack, ‘Japan in a Box’, which saw
Jamboree Units delivering a taste of Japan to their local Groups and
Districts.
Professionally, Jack has worked as a management
consultant for a number of years before becoming a civil servant in
2013. In his current role, Jack leads a team of strategists, policy
makers and engineers to deliver large cross-government change
programmes.
Jack says: ‘I’m hugely excited to have been
appointed as the UK’s next International Commissioner. I have gained a
huge amount from my international Scouting experiences and am looking
forward to supporting leaders to deliver fantastic international
adventures that develop young people.’
Wayne Bulpitt, UK Chief
Commissioner, added: ‘I am delighted to welcome Jack to the UK
Leadership Team as International Commissioner and delighted that he will
be able to build on the successful strategy and reputation we have in
international Scouting.’
