Canyoning is the activity of following a river bed through a deep gorge, often with high mountain sides. This often includes climbing, swimming, abseiling and scrambling depending upon the environment.

How to run/provide canyoning

There are 3 ways of running Canyoning in Scouting. These are:

  1. Scout-led activity - running canyoning yourself or using someone else in Scouting

  2. Externally-led activity - running canyoning using an external provider

  3. Activity for adult groups - running canyoning for a group entirely of adults
