Flying (powered aircraft)

Powered flying takes place in a number of different types of aircraft which are powered by an engine. This ranges from microlights through to conventional aeroplanes.

Who is it suitable for?
Most flying activities are aimed at Scouts and Explorer Scouts, there may be the opportunity for Beavers and Cubs to take part as passengers if a suitable opportunity is available and for Network members to learn to fly.

How to run/provide flying (powered aircraft)

There are 2 ways of running Flying (powered aircraft) in Scouting. These are:

  1. Scout-led activity - running flying (powered aircraft) yourself or using someone else in Scouting

  2. Externally-led activity - running flying (powered aircraft) using an external provider
