Support for Faith Advisers or Chaplains

The Scout Association is an inclusive, values based Movement which supports its Members to engage with spirituality in an exciting and meaningful way.

The Scout Association in the United Kingdom is an open Association. This means we are made up of Members of different faiths, including those of no defined faith, and identify ourselves with no one faith exclusively.

The Faith Adviser or Chaplain has a role to play in offering support to leaders as they facilitate young people's exploration of faith, beliefs and attitudes; and engage in a positive journey of spiritual development within Scouting.

Faith Matters is a resource for all Faith Advisers and Chaplains in Scouting.

Faith Matters provides guidance on the Fundamentals of Scouting, our key policies, spiritual development and resources on inclusive reflection events and Promise renewals. The guide should support Chaplains and Faith Advisers getting started in their role; and ensure they feel confident with Scouting's role in supporting the spiritual development  of young people, and the Movement's place in faith communities.
