Scouting and Schools

Schools can be an excellent way of engaging both young people and potential adult volunteers. In 2016 The Scout Association worked with the Department for Education to create resources that would help schools and scouting to work better together. If you want to start a partnership with a local school, why not get in touch with the Regional Services Team for support?

Evidence

We worked with Demos to understand what young people and teachers thought of Scouting working with schools, and then tested how effective these kind of partnerships were. We also asked adult volunteers and teachers to tell us about their experience of working together. You can use these reports and videos to make a case for a partnership.

Resources

Through piloting Scouting and schools in areas of deprivation, we have created toolkits for adult volunteers in Scouting and teachers to make working together as easy as possible.
