Lifesaver Activity Badge

How to earn your badge

  1. Explain and, if you can, show how you would carry out a rescue from water using these methods:
    • shout
    • reach
    • throwing a buoyant aid
    • throwing a rope
    • wade.
  2. Reach the standard of one of these:
    • Royal Lifesaving Society UK (RLSS UK)  Rookie Lifeguard Gold Level 1 award
    • Royal Lifesaving Society UK (RLSS UK) Survive and Save Silver Medallion award.
  3. Explain and, if you can, show what you would do if:
    • a person fell through ice
    • a pet fell through ice.

 

Flexibility

Each young person who participates in the Programme, including badges and awards, should face a similar degree of challenge, and requirements can be adapted according to each young person’s abilities. For more information and practical tips see our guidance on flexibility
