Training for Executive Committee Members

Executive Committee members have training to complete to support them in understanding the association and the role they play.

Module 1 Essential Information for Executive Committee Members

Module 1 Essential Information for Executive Committee Members (M1E) covers the Fundamentals of Scouting, but also provides more specific information on the responsibilities of Executive Committee Members, enabling them to carry out their role effectively.

You can find out more about the training and the ways to complete this on the Learners page here.

For more information about Module One for Executive Committee Members, please see the relevant FAQs.

For more information on how to validate Essential Information for Executive Committee Members, please see the below documents taken from the Adult's Personal File and the Training Adviser's Guide.

Mandatory Ongoing Learning

Executive Committee members are also required to undertake mandatory ongoing learning for safety and safeguarding.

Currently this is at least every five years. Therefore, five years after someone becomes a member of an Executive Committee (and if they are still on the committee), they must undertake safety and safeguarding training. This training is available online and also face-to-face. The online training provides a certificate that can be used by a Training Adviser to update the training record on Compass.

The online safety training is here.
The online safeguarding training is here.

The certificate along with your membership number may be sent to training.compliance@scouts.org.uk where a team of volunteers will update Compass for you. Or you can send the certificate to a local Training Adviser to update Compass.
