YouShape 2017
#YouShape 2017 resources
Activity Inspirations
In the Activity Inspiration
resource you'll find 31 pages jam-packed with ideas to help you plan
your own #YouShape activities, from a District Camp to a #YouShape
evening. Remember - it's about more than just this month so these
resources can be used at any point this year.
In this year's
resources we've shown how each activity links to badges for that
section, so the activities are even easier to embed into your Programme.
We've also included an evening planner for each section - it couldn't
be easier to run a #YouShape night!

Pledges
This
year, we're asking Groups and sections to pledge to take part in
#YouShape and to make sure their young people's voices are heard. We've
set up three levels of #YouShape involvement - from Bronze (awarded for
printing the Pledge and displaying it at your Group) to Gold (meaning
your Group is working directly in partnership with Young People to make
decisions). We have produced a factsheet with more details about what
the Pledges involve.

Wear Their NeckerTo
encourage young people to take up adult volunteer positions in the
future, we've launched the Wear Their Necker project. This is all about
getting young people to shadow leaders to gain a better understanding of
what the role involves. This might mean a Scout running an evening or an
Explorer shadowing their County Commissioner for the day.

Youth Commissioner and Manager SupportThis
year we've put together a Youth Commissioner's guide to #YouShape that provides guidance on how to take part. There are also suggestions
on how to continue to support Youth Shaped Scouting beyond February.
View the Youth Commissioner's Guide We've
also compiled a guide for Managers, with practical advice on how to
support Youth Commissioners during #YouShape month, including how to
recruit and appoint for the role if you don't have a Youth Commissioner
already.

Consultation results
During YouShape Month 2017, over 6,000 young people were
asked what they enjoyed most and least about Scouting, what they achieved, and
what they valued in the adults that supported them.
Whether you are a youth commissioner, section leader or line
manager, we hope the voices of young people remain front and centre of your discussions
as you decide what Scouting should prioritise in the next strategic plan. The
initial results are outlined here.
