Programme Forums 2016-2017

The Programme Forums for the 2016-2017 year have now finished. A great big thank you to all of those who attended and engaged with the sessions.
We have consolidated the key information from the sessions below.

Plenary Session- A High Quality Programme
This session focused on what we mean by the term a ‘high quality Programme’ and the definition was shared:
“A high quality Programme is challenging, relevant and rewarding for every young person.”

We explored the role of sectional support roles in supporting the delivery of a high quality Programme and discussed the difference between events and activities support and programme support.
The discussions raised the following questions:
Participants then shared how they currently support the Programme and what they could do to support the Programme going forward. These were split into the 2 headings of events and activities support and Programme support. You can see the types of tasks that were discussed under the two headings here.

The workshops provided participants the chance to deep dive into specific topics in the Programme, such as outdoor and adventure, peer leadership, inspiring world and supporting the Young Leader's Scheme. The useful links and resources that were discussed in the workshops and a short summary have been consolidated and can be found here.

What went well?
Overall the 2016-2017 Programme Forums were very well received and were an extremely positive experience.
  • Participants fed back that they enjoyed having the opportunity to network and to share ideas with others from across the Region or Nation.
  • They liked having practical ideas and top tips to take back locally and found reassurance in speaking to others.
  • Members liked the support noticeboard and found it useful, though this varied slightly depending on the location.
  • Members fed back that the facilitators were knowledgeable and the workshop content was interesting.

What we are working on for next time:
The biggest area for improvement was to get communications out earlier to participants. We will therefore be releasing dates in spring to give members more advanced notice. Workshop titles will also be published ahead of the forums, in response to feedback that this would have been useful.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2016-2017 forums. We hope to see everyone at the 2017-2018 events. More details can be found here.
