Grants to support the growth and development of Scouting

The Scout Association has one fund to help support the development and growth of Scouting through specific projects.

Growth grants

Growth grants support the targeted growth of Scouting through the opening of new Scouting provision: i.e. opening new sections, new Explorer Scout Units, new Groups, or opening new sections in existing Groups.
Projects will employ a full time Growth and Development Officer (GDO) for three years through Headquarters (UK or National). Where it is critical for leveraging external (non-Scout) funding, an intern based approach may be used instead.
Applicants will normally be one or more Counties and/or Districts.

The Scout Grants Committee will supply up to half the cost of employing a GDO or intern(s). The applicants will fund the remainder. In some cases the Scout Grants Committee may choose to increase or decrease the funding required from the applicants depending on the applicants financial circumstances.

Please note that associated costs such as publicity, venue hire, etc. will need to be met from other sources.

Any queries about applying to the fund should be made directly to the Scout Grants Committee Team at Gilwell Park.
