Grants for Sea Scouts

The Scouts have a number of funds to help support the purchase of equipment for Sea Scouting, and to assists with the costs of training. Which grant you apply for depends on whether you are a Group recognised by the Royal Navy or not.

Royal Navy Recognised Groups - The RN Admiralty Fund

If you are one of the 106 Groups or Explorer Scout Units currently recognised by the Royal Navy you may apply only to the RN Admiralty Fund. 

The fund was created ‘to assist Royal Navy recognised Sea Scout Groups to obtain boats and equipment and to develop Sea Scout Training. This fund requires the Group to contribute 50% towards the cost of the project’. The fund supports:

Building projects, including maintenance of boat sheds and pontoons are not covered by the fund.
 
Groups are eligible for one grant award totalling no more than £5,000 each financial year.

This fund is wholly financed by the Royal Navy, so changes to its limits and purpose may be made at the request of the funder in future. Please do not apply to the Royal Navy directly for funding as they supply all grants to Scouting through this fund.

Offshore sailing projects - The Shipwrights Fund

Offshore sailing projects may be eligible for funding from the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights to support their work. Applicants may receive up to £4,000 each year to support young people to participate in their programme.

Grants are not available to subsidise individual young people taking part in offshore sailing projects.
