Executive Committee Recruitment

Below is a recruitment resource to promote Executive Committee roles to potential volunteers. It gives basic information about what it means to be a charity trustee and reasons why it is a great volunteer role to take on.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is a compulsory yearly meeting of the Group/District/County Scout Council with important legal aspects and key, mandatory business that must be covered. But that doesn’t mean that it needs to be boring, lengthy or tedious.

Here are a few tips that may help you when organising your next AGM:

AGM resources

Do you need help creating posters and invitations to advertise your AGM? Do you want to create folders for your annual reports? Simply log in to the Brand Centre to get started with creating resources for your AGM.

Norfolk Scouts have created this suggested checklist to help Districts with organising a District AGM.

Section Leaders and the Executive Committee

All Section Leaders (i.e. individuals holding a Beaver Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader or Scout Leader role) need to indicate to the Group AGM that they wish to sit on the Executive Committee as an ex-officio member. This can be done in writing or orally at the AGM.

The Declaration of Intent form can be used by Section Leaders to indicate in writing that they wish to sit on the Executive Committee. Once completed, the form will need to be passed to the Chair of the Executive Committee before the AGM.
