RAF Scholarships

The RAF Association’s 2016 Flying Scholarship programme has now opened for applications.

The scholarships are presented to reward outstanding members of the Air Training Corps (ATC), Combined Cadet Force (CCF) (RAF), Girls Venture Corps Air Cadets (GVCAC) and Air Explorer Scouts. The scheme was set up to recognise their continuous support to the RAF Association. The winning candidate will receive a course of 35 hours flying training in a light aircraft. Five runners up each receive 12 hours of flying. Training can cover all or part of the tuition needed to obtain a National Private Pilot Licence. This is not open to those who already hold an NPPL or Private Pilot Licence with a single engine piston-engine aircraft rating. A candidate must have been a member of Air Explorer Scouts for at least 12 months on 1 June 2016 and must be over 16 and under 20 years of age on the same date. If a young person wishes to apply but hasn’t yet got their GCSE results but meets all other criteria, their application will be accepted provided it is accompanied by a letter from their school confirming their predicted grades. For further details including full terms and conditions and the application form, please visit https://www.rafa.org.uk/what-we-do/air-cadets/flying-scholarships.

The deadline for applications is 31st January each year.
