National Scout Service and Parade

Various people are invited to take part in this special event in recognition of their achievements in Scouting.

Take Centre Stage
Each year we run a selection for Queen's Scouts to form our Colour Party, Service Team and to become Section Leaders. Applications for the following year will open on Parade Weekend.

Queen's Scouts
Those who have achieved the Queen's Scout Award, our highest youth programme award, will be invited to attend and will form the parade for the event. They will march into the Quadrangle at Windsor Castle where the parade will be reviewed by Her Majesty the Queen or her representative. The parade will then march through the castle precincts and down to St George's Chapel, where they will take part in the National Scout Service before exiting the castle. Queen's Scouts are permitted to bring one or two guests with them to view the parade within the Quadrangle. However, this number cannot be confirmed until close of applications.

Adult Award Holders
Adults who have been recognised for their good service and contribution to Scouting through the St George's Day awards will be invited to apply to attend. The level of award will impact on the elements of the day that you are invited to. Some will be permitted to take part in the morning Mattins service in St George's Chapel, while most will gain access to the Quadrangle along with a guest to view the parade and review.

Gallantry Award Holders
Young people and adults who have been rewarded for their bravery and courage through Gallantry and Meritorious Conduct awards will be invited to watch the review from a special enclosure within the Quadrangle and several will be introduced to the reviewing officer and the Chief Scout. Once the review has taken place, they will join the back of the parade, then exit the Castle and make their way to the Harte and Garter Hotel for their reception.

Association Guests
As our biggest annual national event, a number of guests of The Scouts will be invited to join in the celebrations. Some will take part in the Mattins service, while others will simply join in the Quadrangle to watch the parade and review before taking part in the National Scout Service. This will include Commissioners, Ambassadors and others who are supporters of Scouting.
